Every BOF heat has one objective — hit Carbon, Temperature, and Phosphorus at tap, simultaneously. Static control models cannot adapt as each heat evolves. Three persistent problems are the result.

01 · CARBON

Iron Loss in Slag

Over-oxidation pushes recoverable iron into slag — permanently, heat after heat. Static models cannot prevent it because they cannot detect bath chemistry changes as the blow progresses.

02 · TEMPERATURE

Thermal Instability

Heats run hotter than predicted, triggering reblows that waste oxygen, time, and refractory life. Thermal energy releases non-linearly — a fixed schedule cannot track it.

03 · PHOSPHORUS

Phosphorus at Tap

Dephosphorisation needs the right slag chemistry at the right moment. Static flux addition cannot adapt — phosphorus misses specification and forces corrective action.
